- Whiskey Jack

S1:E5 The County

The man, the myth, and the stories that follow him wherever he goes.

Whiskey Jack is a story-driven country song that introduces one of The County’s most unforgettable characters—Whiskey Jack McCoy.

Jack didn’t earn that name by accident. He’s known for living a little too fast, partying a little too hard, and finding himself in the occasional jam—which only added to his reputation around town.

But underneath it all, Jack’s the kind of man you can count on. The kind who’d
“give you the shirt off his back… and his denim jacket too.”

From the time he could walk, Jack was drawn to tractors. What started as a childhood fascination turned into a life’s work, and before long, he was running Iron Creek Tractor Co.—making a name for himself the only way he knew how: full throttle.

Jack’s always had a way with people—especially the ladies. A smooth talker with a wild streak, he never had trouble catching attention.
“He was a tractor man, since the day he could stand…”

But everything changed when he met Jenny Dunn.

She wasn’t like the others. Strong, sharp, and just as quick with a laugh as she was with a comeback—Jenny didn’t try to tame Jack. She simply understood him. And for the first time, Jack met someone who could stand right beside him.

“He met his perfect County girl… and asked her father for her hand.”

Whiskey Jack is part of the larger world of Steel McCreery—where songs, characters, and stories are all connected. And in The County, Jack’s story is one everyone knows… or thinks they do.

Whiskey Jack Lyrics

Verse 1
Whiskey Jack the rebel
Was a neighbour and a friend
He could be a little squirrelly
When the whiskey kicked in

Verse 2
I’ve heard all the stories
I know most of them are true
Give you the shirt off his back
And his denim jacket too

Chorus
He had those steely eyes
Back when men were men
He loved the county girls
He was like a rooster on a hen

Verse 3
All straight talk, no plans
And lots of bacon and eggs,
He had those hay bailing hands
And those post hole digging legs

Chorus
He had those steely eyes
Back when men were men
He loved the county girls
He was like a rooster on a hen

Verse 4
He was a tractor man,
Since the day he could stand
He met his perfect county girl
And asked her father for her hand

Chorus
He had those steely eyes
Back when men were men
He loved the county girls
He was like a rooster on a hen

Verse 5
What made him settle down
Was the question she let free
Is that a tractor in your pocket
Or are you just glad to see me

Chorus
He had those steely eyes
Back when men were men
He loved the county girls
He was like a rooster on a hen
